Week 1212/16/2021 Truthfully, I didn't skate this week mostly because I didn't really have the time to. I was getting my slides ready and rehearsing for my presentation with the extra time I had. I do plan to keep skating since I do really enjoy it and there are many things I want to complete. I will eventually go to a skate park too and my ollies really do need some work. Since its getting cold and it gets dark earlier now I won't have as much time as I want to skate but over Christmas break I am hoping I can get a few hours in.

Week 1112/6/2021 I honestly barely skated this week mostly because I just couldn't find the time to. Since it gets darker earlier now by the time I have gotten home I have about an hour until the sun goes down and there are no street lights where I live so it's a big inconvenience. I'm gonna start forcing myself to go out and skate from now on though because I often find myself not wanting to. I don't hate skating but I just find myself thinking that I have better things to do. Also the fact that I feel like I'm not getting better also takes the motivation away but the fact that I'm not skating everyday probably affects that. Skating is fun but it can get tiring sometimes and I find myself easily burnt out.

Week 1011/29/2021 I brought my skateboard to Thanksgiving and taught my cousins how to do a few tricks. This made me realize what I want to do for my final presentation. I think I'm going to make a video showing how to do an ollie and just my basic knowledge on it. I know that my ollie is far from perfect but I definentily know how it is supposed to be done. It's one of those easier said than done type of things. I think doing this will show that I have good knowledge and have learned more about skateboarding and will be a good project. Anyways, lately I have been wanting to attempt a kickflip. My ollies have been getting progressively higher and easier to do. Well not exactly easier to do since I have to put so much power into just one but I mean eventually it will be easier. I think a kick flip is the next step up. I haven't been able to ollie while moving though. I've tried and everytime the board ended up flying under my feet and I just go fustrated and haven't attempted it since then. I might try it again next week.

Week 911/21/2021 This week I focused a lot on my ollies because, as I've mentioned before, they make me really mad. They are starting to feel more "right" but I still don't really know what they look like because I am way too scared to record myself in the fear that it will reveal that there is nothing really different about my ollies and its just my mind telling that. I will one day overcome that fear and hopefully not disapoint myself in the process. I also am more comfortable pushing the board and better with my balance now which is good.

Week 811/10/2021 I really only went out to skate once this week if I'm going to be honest so there isn't really much to talk about. But that one time I did skate I felt like my ollie was better but everytime I record myself it looks bad. But I figured out how to fix a bit of why its not looking right. I have to slide my right foot more but its easier said than done. I'm not really in control of what my feet are doing mid air so its hard but next week I plan on skating way more since it won't be as busy of a week. I also need to practice just riding the board. The road I skate on doesn't really have the best pavement so it makes it 10 times harder but I'll manage.

Week 711/7/2021 This week I tried mainly focusing on my ollie (although it is my least favorite thing to do ever and I've probably never hated doing something more in life than doing ollies) since it IS very fundamental thing to know how to do if I want to do anymore complex tricks in the future. So as I mentioned in previous blogs, getting the board high has been my main problem so I looked up some videos to help with that. One video said to tap the tail of the board with your foot so you know what the pop feels like. So I did as the video said and the board barely even lifted off the ground. Eventually I kept hitting the tail of the board harder with my foot in attempt to make it go higher but it still barely even went an inch. Then I started to think about it.. my board was bought for like 30 dollars off of Ebay there is no way that the board is the best quality. I'm not trying to say like "its entirely the boards fault" but that also is kind of what I'm saying. There are definitely things I could get better at when it comes to my ollie but I'm not going to beat myself up over not having as much pop anymore. Hopefully around Christmas I can get a better quality board.

Week 610/27/2021 This whole time I have been skating on the road since there is no pavement near my house and the road is the most flat place I could find. There are three problems I have with it though... the first problem is that my driveway is pretty long so I have to walk about a quarter of a mile I think (I don't really have a good concept of distance) to get to the road. The second problem is that falling onto the road hurts really bad. I mean falling on a hard surface is of course going to hurt but there is small rocks and stuff just lying around and that just adds to the pain. The final problem is that cars are going up and down the road so I have to listen very carefully so that I don't get ran over. I am thankful that my road is concrete and not like a dirt road or something. Aside from my troubles with where I skate I have noticed some improvement with my ollie. Honestly I have been really burned out with ollies and have grown a hatred for them but they're still very fundamental to skating so it's something that I'm going to have to just get better at no matter how much I hate doing it.

Week 510/20/2021 I have grown a hatred for ollies and really do not like even attempting them so to distract myself I learned to shuv (pretty much making the board go 180 without pop) and I landed it on the first day and that made me really motivated to keep getting better. The next day I went out and I was doing really bad it was making me mad so I gave up after like 30 minutes but now I think I'm motivated enough to start practicing again. I'm a little sore right now so hopefully that doesn't make anything difficult and if it does I'll just go easy for a few days. I want to get a new board for Christmas though because the one I have I got off of Ebay three years ago and it was already pretty beaten up then. I think building my own board will be really fun so I'm excited for Christmas so come around so that I can do that.

Week 410/16/2021 A recent problem I've come across is that when doing an ollie I get barely any pop. I asked my friend and he just said to jump but thats what I've been doing so it wasn't very helpful. But actually pushing the board is getting way more comfortable now and I'm not losing my balance quite as much as I was before. I just want to start getting faster and I think I'll be satisfied. I also looked at some local skateparks and the best one seems to be one in Lexington. I don't plan on going to a skatepark yet though because I feel like I'll be a little intimidated by the other people there. I think I'll go when I can do an ollie, kickflip and pop shove it since those are the basics.
( I also made a section to post videos now so you can see what I'm doing)

Week 310/6/2021 The weather and me being sick made it really hard to practice but I did as much as I could. I first started with trying out some of the tips my friend gave me and it made it a little harder but at least I am doing it the right way now. On Saturday though I was doing really bad and kept falling so I got a little discouraged. I want to slow down a bit and instead of working so much on my ollie I think I want to get more comfortable actually pushing the board because thats why I've seen myself struggling with the most.

Week 210/3/2021 Although I wasn't able to practice much this week, I made a lot of progress. I'm more comfortable pushing the board while its moving and can go a good controlled speed. My ollie is also getting better and I actually managed to get the board off the ground. I got some tips from a friend and so I'm going to start practicing doing what he said to. My goal for next week is to be able to cruise faster because I think I'm going a little too slow at the moment.

Week 19/22/2021 Due to the weather I wasn't able to go out on Tuesday or Wednesday. So on these days I prepared to start skating but probably not in the best way I could've. Instead of watching videos that will help me understand skating better I spent an hour picking out songs to put in a playlist that I will listen to while skating. I think I'm going to put the rest of my effort on things that will help me (not saying I regret the playlist though.....). The weather was all clear on Thursday so I went out and practiced for about thirty minutes. I started to actually get comfortable with pushing the board and just kept going back and forth. I got confident enough to attempt an ollie but I kept jumping forward off the board instead of jumping up and landing at the same spot.
